The SOLAR FLEXI solar LED luminaire is designed to light areas where no mains connection is available or where building one would be disproportionately expensive. The luminaire, the battery and the solar panel form separate units – the panel is mounted on the pole on its own, on a spigot with 360° rotation and an adjustable tilt of ± 40°, so it can be aimed at the sun independently of the direction in which the luminaire distributes light. That freedom of installation is what gave the luminaire its name.

The luminaire reaches a system efficacy of up to 200 lm/W and uses a LiFePO4 battery with a capacity from 76.8 Wh to 460.8 Wh and a lifetime of more than 2,000 charging cycles. On a full charge it runs for 3 to 4 days in intelligent mode, which covers longer spells without sunshine. Charging is handled by an MPPT controller that continuously tracks the maximum power point of the solar panel, shortening the time needed to recharge the battery.

The luminaire includes a microwave motion sensor with a range of up to 10 metres at a mounting height of 8 metres. Using the remote control you can set up to 7 time periods of the night and, for each of them separately, the light level with motion detected and without. The luminaire therefore keeps only basic lighting during the deep night and rises to full output when someone passes by. A built-in winter mode additionally reduces output in months with short daylight, extending the time the luminaire lasts without recharging.

The luminaire body is aluminium alloy with a powder coating in silver RAL 9006 and the diffuser is polycarbonate. IP66 protection and IK08 impact resistance, together with corrosion class C3, suit the luminaire to permanent outdoor operation. The luminaire carries a 5-year warranty and the battery a 3-year warranty.

SOLAR FLEXI is also available in a hybrid version with supplementary mains supply of 100 – 277 V AC. This suits sites where a mains connection is available but the operator wants to cut consumption – the luminaire draws on the battery first and recharges from the mains only when there is not enough solar energy.
